He ordered to build the fountain in a little village Kulaševac, at the source of the Kulaševac stream, as a symbol of his visit and in a gratitude for the warm welcome residents of this area. Since then, the Kulaševac is known as “King’s waters”- Kraljeve vode. It was visited also by the King Peter I Karadjordjević, and since then started a real tourism on the Mount Zlatibor, and the “King’s waters” is developed in its center (now there is a famous convention center “Serbia”). In 1946, in honor of wounded partisans executed in November and December 1941, King gave “King’s waters”- Kraljeve vode name “Partisan’s Waters”. Since 1995, its name is Zlatibor (tourists often mix these names of the city and mountains for this reason).
Today Zlatibor is an oasis of peace, harmony and beauty – thanks to nature and its admirers, it has grown into a famous center of mountain, recreation, hunting, fishing and, recently, medical tourism. There are over 26 different sacral objects of Serbian spirituality, among which the most interesting are: the monasteries – Uvac (12th century), Banja (12th century) near Priboj, and the Mileševa Monastery (13th century) near Prijepolje, wooden churches from the 18th century in the villages Donja Jablanica, Dobroselce and Kućani. It would attract the attention of the tourists beautiful Zatibor’s Lake, the spring of the Bele vode River (which is considered to be medical), caves – Stopića, in village Rožanstvo and Potpećka (in the village near Užice, having the same name), and Sirogojno village, famous for its weavers and Ethno-park, magic mountains Tara, Zlatar, Perućac with its artificial lake … and dozens other smaller resorts, as they are created for the rehabilitation of the stress of everyday life.

Aleksandar Devetak

Today Zlatibor is primarily known as a health resort, located in southwestern Serbia.
