Next six years the city was called Despotovica (after the river that flows through the city), but when he returned to the throne in 1859, the prince he gave a new name in memory of his brother Milan, who died in 1810th in Romania.<a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/milanovac.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/milanovac.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"milanovac\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-389\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the city, dominate the following buildings: the building of the former City Administration, as old as the city is by itself, where is today the Cultural Centre, Library, Museum of Modern Art, Takovska newspaper and City TV. In front of the building there are white marble statue of Prince Alexander, the city founder, and the Duke Milan Obrenovi\u0107 as well as the bust of the famous \u017divojin Mi\u0161i\u0107 who was just from this building leaded the Suvoborska-Kolubarska battle in 1914. Another important and dominant building is the Church of the Holy Trinity, Milos&#8217;s foundation from 1860. The church was built by architect Nastas Djordjevi\u0107, whose relatives were also poet Mom\u010dilo Djordjevi\u0107, painter \u017divorad Djordjevi\u0107, novelist Slavomir Djordjevi\u0107 and musician Svetomir Djordjevi\u0107, artists who have certainly left an important mark in their own time.<br \/>\nImportant characteristics of the city are the Hill of the peace with the monuments of the recent history and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.viabalkans.com\/en\/historic-sites\/significant-and-unusual-buildings\/norway-house\/\">Norway House<\/a> (Viking ship in the heart of \u0160umadija) \u2013 Museum with an official name &#8220;Yugoslavian house of Norwegian Friendship&#8221; representing monument of strong connections Serbian prisoners and Norwegians.<br \/>\nIn the city part known as Brusnica still lives Stara \u010dar\u0161ija- Old downtown with beautiful church from the 1836 where lie the mortal remains of the Duke Milan Obrenovi\u0107, transferred from Romania.<\/p>\n<p>We are truly recommending the Hotel &#8221;\u0160umadija&#8221; in the downtown where you can stay if you go sightseeing this beautiful city and its surroundings: the Mountain Rudnik, Topola and the Mount Oplenac, the monasteries in the Ov\u010dar-Kablar gorge, the Kni\u0107ko Lake, Rajac, ethnic village Ko\u0161tuni\u0107i, the Mountain Suvobor known as Ravna Gora&#8230;<br \/>\nJust in his neighbor are located Takovo and Svilajnac and Vra\u0107ev\u0161nica and Vujan Monasteries.<br \/>\nTakovo has a great significance in Serbian history because in this authentic Serbian town Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107 began II Serbian Uprising 185 years ago. In the place where is today dried bush once was beautiful oak under which Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107 shouted &#8220;Here I am, there you are &#8230;&#8221; and it is placed in the memorial park where is the monument to the Uprising from 1887, representing a central detail from the paint by Paja Jovanovi\u0107 &#8220;Uprising in Takovo&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/mac-kneza-milosa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/mac-kneza-milosa.jpg\" alt=\"Takovo\" title=\"mac-kneza-milosa\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-390\" \/><\/a>In Takovo there is famous wooden church from the 18th century where the Archpriest Milentije Pavlovi\u0107 gave to the rebels Communion and the Museum of the Second Serbian Uprising, which is located in the former school building, built by King Aleksandar Obrenovi\u0107.<br \/>\nAccording to the legend Savinac was named after the Saint Sava who has once passed through this little town. They say that even today you can find the hoof print of his horse. Savinac is famous picnic area people from Gornji Milanovac and their guests. There is also famous Savina\u010dka church where are the mortal remains of the Mina Vukomanovi\u0107 , daughter of the famous  Vuk Karadzi\u0107.<a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/savinac.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/savinac.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"savinac\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Vra\u0107ev\u0161nica Monastery is located in the same named town on the road Gornji Milanovac \u2013 Kragujevac and it was built just in the period immediately after the Kosovo\u2019s battle. In the monastery there is located a treasure with the copperplate from the 18th century, the Cross from the Second Serbian Uprising, some furniture pieces of the Obrenovi\u0107 dynasty and in the courtyard of the monastery there is a resting place of Baba Vi\u0161nja, the mother of Prince Milo\u0161 Obrenovi\u0107.<br \/>\nIn village Gornji Crnu\u0107i, located 3-4km above the monastery, is palace of the Prince Milo\u0161, which was once even three years the capital of Serbia, but at the 1819 it has been relocated in Kragujevac.<br \/>\nThe Vujan monastery was founded by the ancestors of Queen Draga Obrenovi\u0107, popularly known as Draga Ma\u0161inand in the City Park in Gornji Milanovac was recently built monument in her honor. The monastery is built in 1905 by Nikola Mili\u0107evi\u0107  Lunjevica, a participant of the Uprising in Takovo.<a class=\"highslide\" onclick=\"return vz.expand(this)\" href=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/manastir-vujan.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/manastir-vujan.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"manastir-vujan\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/manastir-vujan.jpg 621w, http:\/\/beautifulserbia.info\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/manastir-vujan-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Near Gornji Milanovac there is village Ljutovnica where is one more authentic wooden church.<br \/>\nGornji Milanovac with its surroundings is an oasis for the development of rural tourism that is rapidly growing.
